Nikolai Zykov was born in 1965 in Moscow in a family of engineers whose life was not related to art. Father - Zykov Viktor - scientist-physics, inventor, Candidate of Science. Mother - Zykova (Smyslova) Tatiana - engineer-technologist, teacher.
At 5 years old parents took Nikolai to the puppet show of their relative - Sergey Obraztsov Puppet Theatre. Nikolai Zykov is a great grand-nephew of a great Russian puppeteer Sergey Obraztsov.
After the show he created his own theatre in his house and presented puppet performances for his parents and the younger sister. He usually did not make puppets by himself. Instead, he took details of toys and inter-connected them with wire.

Sciences.
Since 1977 Nikolai Zykov began to make and to perform puppets by himself.
In 1980 he has made his first own puppet vignette.
In 1985 Nikolai Zykov has created his first own solo puppet performance and founded his own professional puppet theatre.

Nikolai Zykov
constantly developed the technology and has
created many new construction and technological innovations. The most
interesting: new not-wood construction
of marionettes (puppet "Italian
Singer", 1983) - new construction reduced the weight of marionette in several
times and opens new possibilities for this type of puppets,
new fiberglass control of marionettes
(vignette "Funny Company", 1994) - fiberglass control is extra light and it is practically "invisible"
for spectators, original radio-controlled puppet
(vignette "Spider", 2000),
new original construction of total
transformation of marionette "in jump" (vignette "The
Phantom of the Opera", 2002) and new original
construction for flying puppets above the spectators (vignette "Microcosmos",
2002).
Nikolai Zykov has received the diplomas of several competitions and festivals in Russia. Also, he has received the Gold Medal and the diploma of Laureate of the International Festival in Germany (1984), and the Medal of Supreme Soviet (Parliament of the USSR) for outstanding contribution in culture (1986).

took part in many popular TV shows in Russia and abroad. In 1994-1995
Nikolai Zykov
hosts children's TV show "Everyday is holiday"
on Russian State Television. In 2000 Culture TV Channel
calls Nikolai Zykov "the most titled puppeteer of Russia".
Nikolai Zykov is a member of Russian Authors Organization since 1997.
Nikolai Zykov has created and has made more than 70 puppet vignettes with participation of marionettes, hand, rod, radio-controlled puppets and experimental puppets of unusual construction.
Nikolai Zykov is an author of more than 20 puppet performances. The most important: "Nikolai Zykov presents his puppets" (1985), "From Prehistoric Man to Aliens" (1988), "The Magic World of Marionettes" (1993), "Dinosaur and his company" (1998), "Cabaret of Metamorphoses" (2000), "Giant and others" (2003), "Puppet Benefice" (2003), "Exclusive Marionettes" (2006), "Other puppets"(2008).

Mauritius, Seychelles, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan,
